2010 Presidential Candidate Bayani Fernando Profile and platform

Bayani Fernando

An independent candidate who bolted Lakas--Kampi-CMD- (Lakas-Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino-Christian Muslim Democrats) last September 2009.

Profile:

Chairman Bayani F. Fernando was born on July 25, 1946 in San Juan, Metro Manila. He is also known as Mr. Political Will. He is married to the present Mayor of Marikina City, the Honorable Maria Lourdes C. Fernando. He is a licensed Mechanical Engineer in Mapua Institute of Technology who has acquired his managerial skills from the company he has established – the BF Group of Companies, a steel fabrication, general construction and manufacturing business. His success in private business coupled with his aspiration to help people, motivated him to pursue a career in government.

Chairman Fernando ran for public office and became mayor of Marikina City in 1992. Because of the significant transformation of Marikina City from a “rape capital” into one of the country’s model cities, he was re-elected as Mayor for two consecutive terms.

In 2002, he was appointed chairman of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. He was also a former secretary of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the National Capital Region.

Fernando said he will base his platform on political will.
“Yan ay hindi pangako, kundi matagal ko nang ginagawa, ang tumulong sa bayan (That is not a promise, that is something I have been doing a long time ago)," he said. “Ang iba kailangan pa nilang ipakita, ipangako, ako ginagawa ko (Others still have to prove their worth, or make promises, while I walk my talk),” he added.
